How to spin the ball out every time. For a fairway bunker shot, the ball position should be of the back foot so you can get to the ball first hit with backspin swinging the club on the imagery clock, taking the club back to 9 down through 5 at your release point up to the finish at 3 o’clock pulling the lead hand into your pocket holding it there for maximum distance. Beforehand take a few rehearsal swings to get the feel.
For bunker shots around the green, understand how to bounce the club off the sand using your hands.
The rule of thumb for average bunker shots, using the vertical line on your golf club to aim at the flag, then swing the club across your body with backspin; always splash the sand out the bunker you imagine it is a saucer, and the golf ball is in the middle taking all of the saucer out with the ball. Talking a few rehearsal swings should be a swing back to 10 on the clock, swinging down to 5 at your release point, up to 2 is your finish and hold it there. always take rehearsal swings to get the feel.
Drills exercise for this is to draw a line in the sand, then start skipping the club of the sand precisely on the line with the club's sole to feel the bounce.
