How far back you should be from the ball and the with of your stance you need for the shots you want to play so your hands can get your feet to move naturally if required. The simple way to think about this image is that you were going to knock down a tree with an axe level with the ground. How would you do this? You would set yourself up that you were going to hit the same spot on the tree every time, so you would get close enough to the tree with the axe that you could do it. Well, it’s the same if you are going to hit a golf ball. You have touch points on your body is where your elbows touch your rib cage. You let the club touch the ground, walk into the centre of the ball where the virtual line on the club is in the centre of the ball, then tilt your chest and have your feet shoulder apart, then use your hands to swing the clubhead downward at the ball trying to take a divot after you strike the ball never try and swing the shaft forward or upwards always down into the ground you should see how deep you can put your club into the ground after the ball is gone swinging low to your release point. just imagine you are hitting the tree level with the ground coming in at a angle to knock it down with know follow throught in your golf swing.

Most amateurs are confused about where is the proper distance away from the ball. You can check this by using the vertical line of your golf club to the centre of the golf ball, your elbow should be touching your body, and you should have your body weight placed onto the arches of your feet; this will give you the correct posture required for the best swing. The faster your hand goes, the more speed you can create more spin and get more distance. a great exercise for this is to get two clubs put two balls down on tees what ever the distance the clubs allow your seven iron and a wood then set up to make a swing. You will discover that your touch points are the same for all golf clubs you used playing golf. When you do this you will find that for each club in your bag the ball will be the same disance from your toes each time you swing that club.
